MJA | Grammar: Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Tense ini digunakan ada saat menyatakan aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu dimasa lalu, diekspresikan menjad suatu kejadian yang telah dimulai dan sedang berlangsung dimasa alu namun saat ini sudah tidak terjadi lagi.

 

Rumusnya adalah:

 

SUBJECT	AUXILIARY VERB	PRESENT PARTICIPLE VING	Complement
I	HAD BEEN	DRIVING	THE BUS
YOU
THEY
WE
HE
SHE
IT

 

Pada tense ini kamu perlu menambahkan auxiliary verb HAD + BEEN + Present Participle/ VIng. Tense ini pun bisa menjadi kalimat pengandaian pad kalimat Conditional Type ke-3 dan juga bisa menjadi Indirect Speech.

Positive

S + Had + Been + Present Participle/Ving  + O/C

I had been hunting a limited edition all day long

Lia had been sitting on chair wheels for 2 years

My family and I had been traveling in Europe

 

Negative

S + Had + Not + Been + Present Participle/ Ving + O/C

I had not been hunting a limited edition all day long

Lia had not been sitting on chair wheels for 2 years

My family and I had not been traveling in Europe

 

 

Introgative

Question Word/ Had+ S + Been + Present Participle/ VIng + O/C

Had Lia been sitting on chair wheels for 2 years?

Yes, She had been                  No, She had not been

 

Had you been traveling in Europe?

Yes, I had been                       No, I had not been
