MJA | Grammar: Past Perfect Tense

Tense ini menyatakan bahwa suatu tindakkan/ aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu sebelum aksi lainnya terjadi, bisa tindakkan/ aksi yang  telah selesai tapi bisa terulang kembali. Tense ini pun dapat membentuk conditional sentence bentuk ke 3 dan reported Speech.

 

Rumusnya adalah:

 

SUBJECT	AUXILIARY VERB	PAST PARTICIPLE Verb 3	Complement
I	HAD	TAKEN	CONTRACT IN THAT COMPANY
YOU
THEY
WE
HE
SHE
IT

 

Kamu hanya perlu mengganti kata kerja menjadi bentuk ke-3, namun tergantung pada kata kerja Reguler (Beraturan) yang hanya menambahkan  D/ ED atau Irreguler (Tidak beraturan) yang memiliki perubahan kata kerja sesuai dengan penggunaan waktunya.

Macam-macam Past Perfect Tense:

Positive

S + Had + Past Participle/ V3 + O/C

I had returned the CD to the store before

Mina and Jae had watched the movie two times

She had cleaned the house before her friend came to her house

 

 

 

 

 

 

Negative

S + Had + Not + Past Participle/ V3+ O/C

I had not returned the CD to the store before

Mina and Jae had not watched the movie two times

She had not cleaned the house before her friend came to her house

 

Introgative

Question Word/ Had+ S + Past Participle/ V3 + O/C

Had you returned the CD to the store before?

Yes, I had                   No, I had not

 

Had she cleaned the house before her friend came to her house?

Yes, She had               No, She had not

 

 

Kamu bisa menyingkat  (Contraction) Auxiliary Verb dengan Not.

Had not           = Hadn’t
